What the browser changes—and what it leaves alone

A square image is the most predictable choice for embedded album artwork because players usually reserve a square thumbnail. Resolution and file size need balance: a larger source stays sharp on modern screens, while an enormous embedded image increases every audio file in an album.

This checker uses a practical general-purpose profile rather than claiming that one set of rules represents every music store or player. A square JPEG or PNG of at least 1000 pixels is treated as a solid embedded-art starting point; individual distributors may publish different current requirements.
